ANN ARBOR, Mich. (AP) -- A felonious driving charge against Michigan cornerback Todd Howard has been dismissed.

Howard, who faced up to two years in jail and a $1,000 fine, pleaded guilty Thursday to reckless driving misdemeanor, according to Washtenaw County deputy court clerk Vivian Jones,

Authorities said Howard lost control of his sport utility vehicle on July 27, swerved into an oncoming lane and struck a car driven by Mary Casey of Ypsilanti.

A third car was clipped during the crash in Pittsfield Township, but the driver had only minor injuries, police said.

Casey's vehicle was a total loss, and she was in critical condition at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital for several weeks. Howard was not injured.

Howard, a native of Bolingbrook, Ill., was scheduled to be sentenced on Jan. 30 by Judge Cedric Simpson in 22nd Circuit Court.
