ANN ARBOR, Mich. (AP) -- Michigan defensive end Shantee Orr will skip his senior season and enter the NFL Draft.

Orr told the Detroit Free Press on Tuesday that he put a lot of thought into the decision at the end of last season. He said he feels comfortable leaving because he will earn his degree in movement science at the end of this semester.

"That's what it's all about -- being able to go to school, play football and get an education," Orr said.

He tied for the team lead with six sacks last season, though he missed two games with a knee injury.

As a redshirt sophomore in 2001, Orr received honorable mention All-Big Ten honors after recording six sacks and 11 tackles for a loss.

Orr said he expects to be drafted between the third and fifth rounds. He also said he may end up as an outside linebacker because at nearly 6-2 and 253 pounds he is undersized for an NFL defensive end.

But he said he hopes to improve his draft status by attending the NFL combine in Indianapolis next month.

"What you do in the combine really speaks a lot," Orr said. "If you test out as one of the top people in the combine then obviously you're going to go higher."
