MONROE, La, (AP) -- The Louisiana-Monroe athletic department set a school record for football season ticket sales last season, but the school still has a long way to go.

Monroe sold nearly 6,500 season tickets, but needs 15,000 to maintain Division I-A status under NCAA rules. Officials expect to kick off a sales drive by June 2.

Monroe will play five home games, with visits from Stephen F. Austin, Northwestern State, New Mexico State, North Texas and Idaho.
