Visiting day ACC delegation to meet with Syracuse on June 3Posted: Thursday May 29, 2003 12:14 PMSYRACUSE, N.Y. (AP) -- A delegation from the Atlantic Coast Conference plans a visit here next week as part of the ACC's attempt to lure Syracuse away from the Big East Conference, according to a published report Thursday. The delegation expected to visit on Tuesday and Wednesday will likely include ACC commissioner John Swofford and associate commissioner Fred Barakat, the league director of ACC men's basketball, The Post-Standard of Syracuse reported. Syracuse University Sports Information Director Sue Edson said the school will neither confirm nor deny the pending visit. "We want to maintain the integrity of the process. We will not be providing any details," Edson said Thursday. University spokesman Kevin Morrow was out of the office and not immediately available for comment. The university has previously confirmed it would host a visit but said it would not release any specifics until after the visit was completed. The ACC has voted to expand from nine to 12 teams and has identified Syracuse, Miami and Boston College as the three candidates under consideration. An ACC delegation was visiting Miami Thursday and Friday. After taking Saturday off, the ACC group will visit Boston College on Sunday and Monday before heading to Syracuse, the newspaper said. Syracuse athletic director Jake Crouthamel said last week he hoped to address the ACC's revenue sharing plan with the visiting committee. The ACC plan differs significantly from the incentive-based Big East plan.
