STATE COLLEGE, Pa. (AP) -- A 20-year-old Penn State football player was cited for an alcohol violation at his on-campus apartment for the second time in a week.

E.Z. Smith, expected to start this season on the offensive line, was cited Saturday for underage drinking after a campus police officer reported seeing Smith holding a bottle of beer outside Nittany Apartments, where Smith lives.

On July 27, Smith was cited for holding an open bottle of beer at the same location.

Each charge is a summary violation with a possible $300 fine.

Jeff Nelson, Penn State's sports information director, said he had not been told of any change in Smith's playing status.
