Winslow injures toe; Coker says TE will be fine

CORAL GABLES, Fla. (AP) -- Miami tight end Kellen Winslow left practice Saturday with turf toe, but coach Larry Coker said he would be fine.

Winslow injured his toe midway through practice and was limping noticeably as he left the field. Turf toe often makes it difficult and painful to push off and cut and can become a nagging injury that results in missed playing time.

"Kellen will be fine," Coker said. "This won't linger." Winslow broke school records for tight ends last season with 57 receptions for 726 yards and eight touchdowns. He had 11 catches for 122 yards and a touchdown against Ohio State in the national championship game.

Running back Jarrett Payton (concussion), defensive tackle Vince Wilfork (hamstring), cornerback Kelly Jennings (ankle) and linebackers Jonathan Vilma (hamstring) and D.J. Williams (ankle) also missed practice Saturday.

Coker expects all of them to play in the Aug. 28 season opener at Louisiana Tech.
