Nebraska Cornhuskers vs Northwestern Wildcats
Alamo Bowl - Last Stand at the Alamo

December 30, 2000
by: Sportvision

The Huskers and Wildcats square off in the eighth Alamo Bowl in San Antonio. Both teams are ranked near the top in total offense. Nebraska does it with their traditionally overpowering rushing attack, led by QB Eric Crouch. Northwestern has a more balance offense, spreading the field with three and four receivers, then handing to first team All-American Damien Anderson. Both defenses are suspect, so this one could be a real-live shootout in south Texas. All-America LB Carlos Polk will chase Anderson all day long.

Coaching Points:

  • 'Cat QB Zak Kustok (10) gives the ball to RB Damien Anderson (20) on a lead play out of the spread shotgun.
  • Nebraska's defense is spread sideline to sideline by the offensive formation, giving Anderson running lanes.
