BATON ROUGE, Louisiana (Ticker) -- Louisiana State coach Nick Saban has helped restore "Death Valley" as one of the toughest venues in college football.

It should be more of the same on Saturday when the 16th-ranked Tigers continue the non-conference portion of their schedule against independent Utah State.

LSU (1-0) has set four single-game attendance records since the Tiger Stadium expansion prior to the start of last year, including a crowd of 91,782 for last week's 48-17 victory over Tulane.

Since the final game of the 1999 season, the Tigers have won five straight and eight of their last nine at home. The only blemish during that stretch was a 13-10 loss to Alabama-Birmingham last September. LSU went 6-1 at home last season, its best mark since 1996.

LaBrandon Toefield rushed for a career-high three touchdowns against the Green Wave, while Rohan Davey completed 19-of-29 passes for 253 yards and a pair of TDs.

Josh Reed caught eight passes for 135 yards, his eighth career 100-yard game. He has grabbed at least one pass in 15 straight contests.

LSU limited Tulane to just 48 yards rushing, its best total under Saban and the first time the Tigers held an opponent under 50 yards since the 1998 season opener against Arkansas State.

LSU is seeking its sixth straight 2-0 start. In 1995, the Tigers dropped their opener to Texas A&M.

Utah State (0-1) is in the middle of a season-opening three-game road trip that began with a 23-19 loss to Utah last week.

Kevin Curtis recorded 11 receptions for 171 yards, the best performance by a Utah State receiver in his first game, but the Aggies could not overcome five turnovers.

LSU posted a 38-17 victory over Utah State in the only previous meeting between the schools in 1993. The Aggies are 1-6 all-time against the Southeastern Conference, with their only win coming against Kentucky in 1970.
