NORMAN, Oklahoma (Ticker) -- Third-ranked Oklahoma owns the longest current winning streak in the nation, and it would take a minor miracle for it to end this weekend. Fresh off a 44-3 rout of Air Force, Oklahoma returns home to begin a three-game homestand with a game against overmatched North Texas on Saturday night. The Sooners, who host Tulsa next week, have won 15 straight games and will not be seriously tested until a home game against Kansas State on September 29. The easy early schedule has allowed coach Bob Stoops to bring quarterback Nate Hybl along slowly. Hybl, the successor to Josh Heupel, looked more comfortable agianst Air Force than he did in a season-opening win at North Carolina, throwing for two touchdowns and rushing for another. North Texas also must contain Quentin Griffin, who carried 26 times for a career-high 201 yards and a touchdown against the Falcons. Oklahoma forced four turnovers last week and has nine in its first two games. North Texas (0-1), a member of the Sun Belt Conference, opened its season with a 19-5 home loss to Texas Christian. The Mean Green managed just five first downs, but were able to limit the Horned Frogs to 198 yards of total offense. North Texas was just 2-9 last season. Oklahoma has won all four games in the series by an average of 40.5 points. The Sooners won the last meeting, 37-9, in 1998.
