TEMPE, Arizona (Ticker) -- Arizona State, showing signs of life under first-year coach Dirk Koetter, seeks its first victory over a ranked team this season when it hosts No. 11 Washington.

Devon Flowers ran for a career-best 226 yards and two touchdowns to power the Sun Devils to a 41-24 win over Oregon State last week. This week, Arizona State seeks back-to-back Pac-10 victories for the first time downing Washington and Washington State in October 1999.

Koetter built a potent offense in his former job at Boise State and has done the same in Tempe. Sophomore Jeff Krohn ranks sixth in the nation in passing efficiency and the Sun Devils (4-2, 1-2 Pac-10) rank sixth in scoring offense (40.0 ppg).

Mike Barth had a string of 12 consecutive field goals snapped last week when a 36-yard attempt was blocked.

Washington (5-1, 3-1) tries to complete a sweep of teams from the Grand Canyon state after a 31-28 win over Arizona last week.

Cody Pickett had the most prolific passing day in Husky history despite playing with a separated right shoulder. The sophomore threw for 455 yards, breaking the record of 428 set by Cary Conklin against Arizona State in 1989.

"He isn't exactly a seasoned veteran," Washington coach Rick Neuheisel said. "But I think the confidence that you gain from a game like this past one will help him immeasurably if he goes forward in his career."

Washington has turned the ball over 12 times, but the opponents have converted just four of those mistakes into scores for a total of 28 points.

Mistakes were the order of the day in Washington's 21-15 win at Arizona State last season. The teams combined for 12 turnovers and 18 penalties in an ugly affair.

The Huskies lead the all-time series, 14-8.

Since 1990, the Huskies are 11-3 in Pac-10 games in which the opponent had a first-year coach. Washington beat first-year coach John Mackovic of Arizona last week.
