LINCOLN, Nebraska (Ticker) -- Second-ranked Nebraska is thinking about winning a national championship, but the Cornhuskers also will have revenge on their minds Saturday when they host Kansas State in a Big 12 Conference contest.

The Wildcats are the last team to beat Nebraska, posting a 29-28 victory on a snowy November night last season in Manhattan. Kansas State got the winning score on Jonathan Beasley's 12-yard touchdown pass to Quincy Morgan with 2:52 remaining.

Kansas State parlayed the win into an appearance in the Big 12 Championship game, where it suffered a 27-24 loss to eventual national champion Oklahoma.

Since its defeat to Kansas State last season, Nebraska (6-0, 10-0 Big 12 North) has reeled off 12 straight victories, the second-longest winning streak in the country behind Miami, which has won 17 in a row.

The Cornhuskers routed Kansas, 51-7, last week -- avoiding a letdown after their win over Oklahoma -- and remained one game ahead of Colorado in the North Division.

Dahrran Diedrick rushed for 136 yards and two touchdowns on 21 carries for the Cornhuskers, who locked up their third straight 10-win campaign. Coach Frank Solich improved to 41-7 in his four years at Nebraska.

Assuming Nebraska and Colorado win this weekend, the division title will be decided on November 23 when the Cornhuskers visit the Buffaloes.

Kansas State (4-4, 2-4) has rebounded from a four-game losing streak to win its last two games. The Wildcats routed Iowa State, 42-3, last week after pounding Kansas, 40-6, the week before.

A winning season would be an impressive accomplishment for Kansas State. The only time the Wildcats overcame a four-game losing streak to finish above .500 was in 1911. That squad lost its first four games before finishing 5-4-1.

Kansas State closes with a pair of home contests, hosting Louisiana Tech on November 17 and Missouri on November 24. The game with Louisiana Tech was postponed from September 15 in the wake of the terrorist attacks.

The Wildcats rushed for 343 yards and had a pair of 100-yard runners against Iowa State. Josh Scobey rushed for 172 yards and two touchdowns on 32 carries, while quarterback Ell Roberson gained 131 yards and also scored twice on 22 attempts.

Kansas State has won just two of 22 games against top 10 teams under coach Bill Snyder, including a 38-37 loss at Oklahoma on September 29 that started the Wildcats' four-game losing streak.
