NORMAN, Oklahoma (Ticker) -- After a breather against Tulsa, fourth-ranked Oklahoma returns to Big 12 Conference play Saturday against Texas A&M. The Sooners (8-1, 4-1 Big 12 South) have their sights on a possible rematch with Nebraska in the Big 12 championship game and can keep up their part of the bargain by winning their final three games. However, last week's win did not help Oklahoma in the Bowl Championship Series as the Sooners dropped one spot to third and changed places with Miami. Oklahoma and Texas each have one loss, but the Sooners have the tiebreaker edge based on their win over the Longhorns. Oklahoma plays at improving Texas Tech next week before hosting Oklahoma State in its regular-season finale on November 24. The status of Sooners quarterback Jason White is unknown. Coach Bob Stoops refuted a report thatWhite suffered a torn ACL against Nebraska on October 27 and would be lost for the season. Stoops said White could return as early as this weekend. Nate Hybl, who started Oklahoma's first six games before being benched, threw a pair of touchdown passes in the Sooners' 58-0 win over Tulsa. He completed 36-of-48 passes for 347 yards. Oklahoma held Tulsa to just 106 total yards en route to its first shutout since a 37-0 blanking of Missouri on November 6, 1999. Quentin Griffin rushes for 116 yards and three touchdowns on 12 carries and also caught a TD pass for the Sooners. Texas A&M (7-2, 4-2) is coming off a disappointing 12-0 loss to Texas Tech, a defeat that likely ended the Aggies' BCS bowl hopes. Mark Farris completed 22-of-31 passes for 206 yards for Texas Tech, but the Aggies were done in by a pair of turnovers in Texas Tech territory. Texas A&M suffered its first shutout since a 24-0 setback to Penn State in the 1999 Alamo Bowl and fell out of the rankings. Oklahoma leads the all-time series, 10-9, although Texas A&M has a 3-2 edge since the formation of the Big 12 Conference. Texas A&M coach R.C. Slocum has a 4-3 record against Oklahoma and is the only Aggies' mentor to beat the Sooners in Norman, posting a 51-7 victory here in 1997. Last year, Texas A&M gave Oklahoma one of its toughest tests during the Sooners' run to an undefeated season. Oklahoma held on for a 35-31 victory in College Station, thanks to a pair of defensive stands in the final minutes and an interception return for a score by linebacker Torrance Marshall.
