EAST LANSING, Michigan (Ticker) -- Bill Burke had two touchdown passes less than nine minutes into the game, then T.J. Duckett led an impressive ground attack as Michigan State posted another blowout of Eastern Michigan, 51-7. Burke got Michigan State on the board with 10:31 left in the first quarter as he found Chris Baker for a 17-yard touchdown. Just 4:25 later, Burke connected with Gari Scott on a 25-yard scoring strike to cap a 72-yard drive that took just 78 seconds. One week after throwing for 205 yards and two scores in a 27-20 win over Oregon, Burke was not needed for much of this contest and finished just 7-of-18 for 111 yards. Redshirt freshman Arron Agler, one of four quarterbacks to play for the Spartans, recorded the first TD pass of his career with an eight-yarder to Ivory McCoy in the fourth quarter. The running game was the major difference for Michigan State, which owned a whopping 249-29 advantage in rushing yardage. Duckett carried just eight times for 83 yards, including a four-yard score late in the opening period to give the Spartans a 24-0 cushion. Shawn Foster contributed 82 yards on 15 attempts for Michigan State, which opened a season 2-0 for just the second time since 1983. Dawan Moss became the first Spartans fullback in nearly three years to run for a touchdown when he broke off a 42-yard score in the second quarter. Michigan State's defense did the rest, limiting the Eagles to seven first downs and just 130 yards of total offense. Linebacker Julian Peterson led that effort with six tackles, 1 1/2 sacks and three pass break-ups. Paul Edinger had three field goals, including a career-best 51-yarder, as Michigan State improved to 5-0 all-time against Eastern Michigan. The Spartans have won those contests by a combined 151-19 margin, including a 47-0 shellacking in 1996. Eagles quarterback Walter Church was a dismal 10-of-35 for 101 yards with one touchdown. He was also picked off in the second quarter by safety Lorenzo Guess, who returned the interception 39 yards for a touchdown.
