BOULDER, Colorado (Ticker) -- Mike Moschetti threw a pair of first-half touchdown passes as Colorado raced to a huge lead and coasted to a 51-17 victory over Kansas in the Big 12 Conference opener for both teams. Moschetti connected with Javon Green on a 21-yard scoring strike 49 seconds into the second quarter and hit Marcus Stiggers from 16 yards out with 7:47 to play before intermission, giving Colorado (2-1, 1-0 Big 12 North) a 24-0 advantage. Jeremy Aldrich added field goals of 42 and 48 yards in the quarter as the Buffaloes widened their lead to 30-3 at halftime. Joe Garcis kicked a 24-yard field goal for Kansas (1-2, 0-1 Big 12 North) in the second. Moschetti finished an efficient 17-of-22 for 216 yards with those two TD passes. After Aldrich kicked his third field goal, a 41-yarder early in the third, the Jayhawks got an eight-yard TD pass from Dylen Smith to Micahel Chandler and defensive back Greg Erb recovered a fumble in the end zone to help the Jaywhawks close to 33-17 entering the fourth. Smith completed 14-of-26 passes for 126 yards and with one interception. The Buffaloes scored 18 points in the final period, highlighted by defensive back Ben Kelly bringing back a fumble 96 yards for a score. Colorado, which will face former coach Rick Neuheisel and Washington next week, has scored 114 points in winning its last two games after opening the season with a loss to intrastate-rival Colorado State.
