NEW HAVEN, Connecticut (Ticker) -- Rob Scholl picked up a blocked extra point attempt and ran it in for a two-point conversion with 14 seconds left as Brown completed an unlikely comeback in a 25-24 Ivy League victory over Yale. This was the 23rd straight year that these teams have opened their seasons against each other and Yale (0-1, 0-1 Ivy) figured to have the win when Ben Blake's potential tying extra point was blocked. But Scholl, a backup fullback, then became the hero. James Perry hit tight end David Brookman with a seven-yard scoring pass to put Brown (1-0, 1-0) in position to send the game to overtime. Brown improved to 26-73-5 in the all-time series and once again handed the Eli a stunning loss in the Yale Bowl. Brown posted its largest victory over Yale here in 1997, a 52-14 whipping. Perry passed the Bears back into the game, helping them overcome a 14-point deficit in the second half. He completed 38-of-57 passes for 379 yards and three touchdowns with two interceptions. Brookman had seven catches for 100 yards and Stephen Campbell had six for 107. Joe Walland was 12-of-22 for 182 yards and one score without getting intercepted for Yale. Perry threw a 17-yard scoring pass to Campbell with 5:37 remaining to pull Brown within 24-17. Jake Fuller caught a 10-yard scoring pass from Walland 31 seconds into the fourth quarter to give Yale some breathing room. Perry threw a 12-yard touchdown pass to Michael Powell midway through the third quarter to get Brown within 17-10. Yale's Rashad Bartholomew ran a yard for a score in the second quarter to make it 10-0 and had a 12-yard touchdown run late in the half to push the lead to 17-3. Bartholomew ran for 42 yards on 19 carries and Walland had 32 on 12.
