MANHATTAN, Kansas (Ticker) -- Jonathan Beasley accounted for five touchdowns, including two scoring strikes to Quincy Morgan, as No. 10 Kansas State cruised to a 50-9 Big 12 Conference North rout of Kansas.

Beasley opened the scoring with an 88-yard TD pass to Morgan just under three minutes into the game and found the receiver for a 34-yard TD early in the third period, helping Kansas State (5-0, 3-0 Big 12 North) remain unbeaten.

The junior also had three one-yard touchdown runs as Kansas State posted its 48th consecutive victory over an unranked opponent at KSU Stadium. The game attracted 52,254, the largest crowd to witness a sporting event in Kansas.

"In a way, I started off sluggishly and did what I could to move the ball," Beasley said. "I worked hard in film this week and in practice and I felt it paid off."

"It appears at this point in time that Jonathan Beasley had a pretty sound game," Kansas State coach Bill Snyder added.

Yet Snyder was not satisfied with his team's overall effort, pointing to a school-record 18 penalties for 162 yards. The previous mark was 17 on two occasions, against West Illinois in 1990 and Baker in 1950.

Despite the penalties, Kansas State improved to 5-0 for the fourth time in Snyder's 11 years at the school, including the last two seasons.

"I wasn't overly excited about the consistency of our performance on offense and I think a lot of that has to due with the University of Kansas," he said. "They had a nice game plan coming in here. I am not happy with the penalties we had."

"A lot of the penalties came on 3rd-and-long," Kansas State linebacker Ben Leber added. "It was very frustrating. We didn't agree with a lot of the calls and that made it more frustrating."

The Wildcats also recorded their seventh straight win over the Jayhawks, outscoring their Sunflower State rival by an average of 44.5 points in the last two meetings. Last year's 54-6 victory was the most lopsided in 97 games between the schools.

Despite Kansas State's recent domination, Kansas (2-4, 0-2) leads the all-time series, 61-31-5.

"Obviously, with K-State's execution of the big play, any momentum we had offensively was taken away from us and truly led to our demise," Kansas coach Terry Allen said. "We were plugging along offensively, trying to hang in and trying to burn some clock and, boom, they threw a 70-yard bomb. It just deflated us."

Kansas, which is opening conference play with three consecutive road games for the first time in school history, has been outscored 101-26 in its two Big 12 losses. The Jayhawks suffered a 51-17 loss at Colorado on September 18.

The Wildcats rolled up 520 total yards, with Beasley completing 10-of-17 passes for a career-high 279 yards. Morgan had five receptions for 192 yards, just 14 shy of Darnell McDonald's school record set in the 1997 Fiesta Bowl against Syracuse.

"The big play killed us," Kansas defensive back Greg Erb said.

"Right away, we were stopping them, then they would hit a big play. We were like, 'Here it goes again.' We did well again the run and the pass except for the big plays."

Dylan Smith was just 7-of-27 for 77 yards while Mitch Bowles rushed for 101 yards on 20 carries for Kansas. Bowles was playing in place of starter David Winbush and the Wildcats were missing starting tailback Frank Murphy.

Hopefully, we can get our heads back together," Smith said.

"It's a tough loss."

After the teams traded field goals in the first quarter, Beasley scored twice in the first five minutes of the second period, giving Kansas State a 24-3 lead.

Moran Morris answered with a two-yard TD run for the Jayhawks but Kansas State took a 30-9 halftime cushion on Joe Hall's three-yard TD scamper with just 38 seconds remaining.
