COLLEGE PARK, Maryland (Ticker) -- Woodrow Dantzler threw for 252 yards and ran for 183 and a touchdown and Travis Zachery added 95 yards and three touchdowns as Clemson won a seesaw Atlantic Coast Conference matchup with Maryland, 42-30. Dantzler, who has stepped into the role of fulltime starter following an injury to Brandon Streeter, completed 16-of-23 passes. He added 22 carries, including a 46-yard run. Zachery ran for 93 yards and a touchdown against Maryland last year as a freshman and was even better this time around. He carried 24 times for 95 yards and had scoring runs of 11, one and 13 yards for Clemson (3-3, 3-1 ACC). Maryland (4-2, 1-2) got a huge effort from running back Lamont Jordan, who carried 26 times for 177 yards and four touchdowns. The loss was a pivotal one for the Terrapins, who kicked off a stretch of three straight home games. Dantzler had a 23-yard touchdown run and Zachery ran for scores of 11 and one yard in the opening half as Clemson took a 21-17 lead. Jordan gave Maryland a 24-21 edge with a 17-yard burst 70 seconds into the second half. The Tigers took the lead for good with 8:12 to go in the quarter on a 13-yard scoring run by Zachery. Freshman Bernard Rambert added a short scoring run in each of the final two quarters for Clemson, which has won seven straight games against the Terrapins. Maryland hosts North Carolina next Saturday while the Tigers entertain top-ranked Florida State the same day.
