LOS ANGELES (Ticker) -- Todd Husak led a huge comeback with his arm, then ran for the go-ahead touchdown on the first play of the fourth quarter as Stanford remained unbeaten in the Pac-10 Conference with a 35-31 victory. Husak completed 20-of-32 passes for 290 yards and a pair of touchdowns, both coming after Stanford fell into a 24-7 hole late in the second quarter. He snuck in to cap a 55-yard drive and give the Cardinal the lead for good. Torched all game by Mike Van Raaphorst, Stanford's defense hung tough in the final period, forcing two punts and a missed field goal before Tim Smith intercepted at the Cardinal 7 to seal the win. Brian Allen had 121 yards on 15 carries for Stanford (5-2, 5-0 Pac-10), which is 5-0 in the conference for the first time since 1970. The Cardinal won in the Coliseum for the first time since 1991 and improved to just 25-52-3 in the all-time series. Van Raaphorst was 25-of-51 for a school-record 415 yards and three TDs as his completions, attempts and touchdowns all were career highs. Chad Morton added 151 yards on 22 carries for the Trojans (3-4, 1-3), who amassed 587 total yards. Husak threw a 23-yard TD pass to DeRonnie Pitts with 26 seconds left in the first half to begin the comeback and cut the deficit to 10 points. He marched Stanford 80 yards in 72 seconds with the first possession of the second half, making it 24-21 with a 16-yard TD toss to Dave Davis. On the next possession, cornerback Chris Johnson intercepted Van Raaphorst and returned it 30 yards for a touchdown and a 28-24 lead, stunning the crowd of 57,494. Husak threw two interceptions around another by Van Raaphorst before the USC signal-caller regrouped and hooked up with R. Jay Soward on a 64-yard TD pass, giving the Trojans a 31-28 lead with 6:34 left in the third quarter. Troy Walters caught five passes for 86 yards and Tafiti Uso had four for 71 for Stanford. Kareem Kelly had eight receptions for 129 yards, Windrell Hayes had six for 79 and Soward added five for 92 for Southern Cal. Morton had a one-yard TD run and Van Raaphorst threw TD passes of eight yards to Hayes and 64 yards to Marcell Almond in a huge first quarter. Allen's 68-yard run set up Coy Wire's two-yard scoring jaunt but USC answered with David Newbury's 31-yard field goal with 1:39 to go in the first half.
