TUCSON, Arizona (Ticker) -- A huge road victory has put Washington in the driver's seat to represent the Pac-10 Conference in the Rose Bowl. Marques Tuiasosopo passed for 208 yards and two touchdowns as Washington defeated Arizona, 33-25, to tie idle Stanford for first place in the Pac-10. The Huskies (6-3, 5-1) own the tiebreaker edge based on a 35-30 victory over Stanford on October 30 and can lock up the Rose Bowl berth by winning their final two games against UCLA and Washington State. While this has been a down year for the Pac-10, Washington has rebounded from an 0-2 start to win six of its last seven games. The Huskies' lone defeat during that stretch was a 28-7 home loss to Arizona State on October 16. After spotting Arizona a 3-0 lead in the first quarter, the Huskies erupted for 19 points in the second period to grab a 19-10 halftime lead. After John Anderson tied it with a 25-yard field goal, Tuiasosopo tossed a 25-yard TD pass to Gerald Harris to give the Huskies a 10-3 lead with 10:50 left in the second period. Following Anderson's 39-yard field goal, Arizona (6-4, 3-3) pulled within 13-10 on Trung Canidate's 74-yard TD run. But Washington answered on Paul Arnold's 27-yard scoring run with 39 seconds left in the half. The extra-point attempt failed. Arizona again pulled within two points on Ortege Jenkins' 55-yard TD pass to Marvin Brown with 4:39 left in the third period. Tuiasosopo responded with a six-yard TD strike to Jerome Stevens with 4:14 in the fourth quarter. Just 24 seconds later, cornerback Anthony Vontoure returned a Jenkins' interception 29 yards for a touchdown to put the contest away. Jenkins completed 12-of-18 passes for 198 yards for Arizona while Canidate carried 11 times for 105 yards, cracking the 100-yard mark for the eighth straight game. The Wildcats had won four of their previous five games. Washington increased its lead in the all-time series to 11-4-1.
