CINCINNATI (Ticker) -- Although he failed to throw a touchdown pass, Chris Redman showed he could be a force on the ground. Redman had a one-yard touchdown run and linebacker Bud Herring returned an interception 66 yards for a score late in the game as Louisville won its fourth straight game, 23-16 over Cincinnati in a Conference USA game. Redman completed 32-of-49 passes for 367 yards, but saw his streak of consecutive games with at least one touchdown pass end at 13. He has 3,302 passing yards this season, second in the nation to Drew Brees of Purdue, who has 3,348. His 293 completions tops Brees by seven for tops in Division I-A. Frank Moreau rushed for 112 yards on 29 carries for his sixth 100-yard game of the season and the 11th of his career. His nine-yard touchdown run in the third quarter gave Louisville a 10-7 lead. Redman's touchdown run on the first play of the fourth quarter gave the Cardinals a 17-7 lead, but quarterback Deontey Kenner scored from two yards out to cut the deficit to 17-13 with 2:15 left. Herring put away the game away when he picked off Kenner's pass and returned it 66 yards for a touchdown with 58 seconds remaining. Arnold Jackson had a career-high 15 catches for 174 yards and tight end Ibn Green added seven catches for 100 yards. Louisville (7-3, 4-1, C-USA) won for the fifth time in six games and assured itself of its first back-to-back winning seasons since 1994 and 1995. Kenner was 15-for-32 for 194 yards and ran for 54 yards on six carries. One week after rushing for 209 yards, Richard Cooper was held to 96 yards on 27 carries. Lloyd Garden had an eight-yard touchdown run in the second quarter for Cincinnati (3-6, 0-4), which lost for fifth time in six games, but continues to lead in the all-time series against Louisville, 25-13-1.
