NASHVILLE, Tennessee (Ticker) -- Kentucky snapped a two-game losing streak as it survived a late rally by Vanderbilt and became eligible for a bowl with a 19-17 Southeastern Conference victory. Vanderbilt (5-5, 2-5 SEC East) pulled within two points when Elliott Carson caught a two-yard touchdown pass from Greg Zolman with 5:20 left. Zolman completed 19-of-39 passes for 270 yards and two scores. Following a fumble, the Commodores got back the ball at the Wildcats 40-yard line with 3:10 left. But three plays later, Vanderbilt fumbled for its fourth turnover and Kentucky (6-4, 4-3) ran out the clock for its fourth straight win over the Commodores. If invited, the Wildcats will be appearing in consecutive bowls for the first time since 1983-84. Last season, they were beaten by Penn State in the Outback Bowl. Anthony White paced Kentucky with 13 carries for 73 yards, moving into seventh place on the school's all-time rushing list with 1,708 yards. He also caught eight passes for 28 yards and scored on a three-yard run early in the contest for a 7-0 lead. Kentucky's Dusty Bonner completed 14-of-31 passes for 141 yards. He fired an 80-yard scoring strike to Quentin McCord late in the third quarter as the Wildcats built a 19-10 cushion. Tavarus Hogans caught six passes for 144 yards and one touchdown for Vanderbilt, which suffered its third loss in four games. He caught a 38-yard scoring pass from Zolman midway through the first quarter.
