TUCSON, Arizona (Ticker) -- After a bomb of a first half, Steve Bellisari turned into the "Mad Bomber" in the second half.

Bellisari completed a pair of bombs in the third quarter -- one for a touchdown and one setting up another score -- as No. 16 Ohio State rallied for a 27-17 victory over Arizona.

Bellisari completed just 5-of-11 pases for 84 yards in the first half, when Ohio State fell behind, 17-10. His poor pitchout to tailback Derek Combs resulted in a safety and a 10-point swing.

But the junior bounced back in the second half, going over the top of Arizona's defense. He found Chad Cacchio with a deep strike behind the secondary for a 60-yard touchdown that pulled the Buckeyes (2-0) into a 17-17 tie with 7:53 remaining in the period.

OSU forced a punt and Bellisari struck again, connecting with Reggie Germany on a 46-yard pass down the right sideline to the Arizona 2. Replays showed Germany may not have had possession before hitting the ground.

Two plays later, Jonathan Wells banged in from the 1, giving the Buckeyes a 24-17 lead with 2:44 left.

The defense took over, hounding Arizona's Ortege Jenkins, who had another erratic game. He was 11-of-23 for 137 yards and a touchdown but was sacked eight times and generated practically no offense in the second half.

In a season-opening win against Utah, Jenkins was 3-of-15 for 11 yards.

Bellisari was 12-of-20 for 240 yards as he helped OSU overcome 13 penalties for 96 yards.
