LUBBOCK, Texas (Ticker) -- Wes Welker scored on a 63-yard punt return and Kliff Kingsbury passed for 240 yards as Texas Tech became the first team in the country to win four games with a 26-0 rout of winless Louisiana-Lafayette. Welker's return with 1:06 left in the third quarter gave the Red Raiders (4-0) a 20-0 lead. Kingsbury, who set the school record for completions and attempts last week against North Texas, completed 24-of-37 passes. He opened the scoring with a two-yard TD pass to Tim Baker midway through the first quarter. Baker, who entered the game with 142 yards receiving this season, caught six passes for 140 yards tonight. Louisiana-Lafayette fell to 0-3. The Red Raiders lead the all-time series 5-0 and have averaged 43.8 points in the five meetings. The Ragin' Cajuns have scored only 11.8 points per contest in the series. Chris Birkholz booted field goal of 24 and 19 yards in the second quarter to give the Red Raiders a 13-0 halftime cushion. He made both of his PATs and has connected on all 64 in his career. After Welker broke open the game with his return, Ricky Williams capped the scoring with a four-yard TD run midway through the final quarter.
