CORVALLIS, Oregon (Ticker) -- Ken Simonton scored two touchdowns and Nick Barnett recovered a fumble in the end zone as Oregon State won its 12th straight non-conference game, 35-3 over San Diego State. The Beavers (3-0) played their final non-conference contest before hosting Southern California in their Pac-10 Conference opener next week. San Diego State is off to its first 0-4 start since 1955. After Nate Tandberg booted a 49-yard field goal in the first quarter for the Aztecs, Oregon State took charge. Chad Johnson caught a 26-yard touchdown pass from Jonathan Smith 51 seconds into the second quarter and Barnett recovered his fumble two minutes later. Simonton had a pair of one-yard scoring plunges and Patrick McCall added a 10-yard TD run midway through the third quarter to close the scoring. The Beavers have won 10 of their last 14 games and have their first three-game winning streak since a four-game run last season. It was their first victory in three tries against the Aztecs. Simonton had 18 carries for 91 yards, falling just shy of his 15th career 100-yard game for Oregon State. Smith completed 14-of-27 passes for 172 yards and a touchdown. Lon Sheriff completed 15-of-30 passes for 156 yards and four interceptions for San Diego State, which was outgained, 336-227.
