SAN JOSE, California (Ticker) -- Rocky Perez passed for three touchdowns and ran for another as Texas-El Paso used a big second half to record its fourth straight win, a 47-30 Western Athletic Conference triumph over San Jose State.

Perez put UTEP (5-2, 4-0 WAC) ahead for good, 33-30, with a six-yard touchdown toss to tight end Brian Natkin with 5:09 left in the third quarter. Chris Porter and Javier Sanchez sealed the Miners' victory with short scoring runs in the fourth quarter.

Perez completed 20-of-35 passes for 280 yards with one interception and scored on a two-yard keeper in the second quarter. He helped UTEP erase a two-point halftime deficit by outscoring the Spartans, 26-7, in the second half.

Deonce Whitaker rushed for 209 yards and tied a school record with four touchdowns for San Jose State (4-3, 2-1), which was penalized 12 times for 92 yards.

The Miners have won their first four conference games for the first time since joining the WAC. They also have scored at least 40 points in three straight contests.
