OXFORD, Mississippi (Ticker) -- Deuce McAllister came up golden in the "Egg Bowl."

McAllister ran for 121 yards and three touchdowns and threw for another score as Mississippi roared back from a 16-point deficit and surprised 23rd-ranked Mississippi State, 45-30, in the 72nd "Battle of the Golden Egg."

After blowing a 16-0 lead, Mississippi State (7-4, 4-4 SEC West) reclaimed a 30-28 lead on Dontae Walker's 73-yard touchdown dash midway through the third quarter.

But McAllister showed his versatility with a 20-yard scoring toss to quarterback Romaro Miller with 44 seconds left in the period, putting the Rebels (7-4, 4-4) ahead for good. He added a one-yard TD run against the nation's fifth-ranked rushing defense with 6:53 remaining in the fourth quarter.

McAllister became the first player in school history to rush for 3,000 yards in his career. He also broke Ole Miss' single-season records for touchdowns and points.

Mississippi extended its lead in the all-time series to 53-38-6, including a 46-21-5 edge since the archrivals began playing for the "Golden Egg" trophy in 1927.

Walker carried 14 times for 121 yards and three touchdowns for the Bulldogs, who suffered their second straight loss. Last week's overtime defeat to Arkansas knocked Mississippi State out of the Southeastern Conference championship game.
