COLUMBIA, Missouri (Ticker) -- A fourth-quarter meltdown spoiled Gary Pinkel's coaching debut at Missouri.

John Gibson and Joe Alls scored touchdowns in the final 10 minutes and Janssen Patton recorded two crucial late interceptions as Bowling Green rallied for a 20-13 victory over Missouri in the season opener for both teams.

Pinkel, who posted a 73-37-3 record in 10 seasons at Toledo, took over at Missouri after Larry Smith was fired. He was in position to win his debut as the Tigers (0-1) opened a 13-7 lead just over two minutes into the final period.

But Bowling Green (1-0) drove 80 yards in eight plays to tie the contest on Gibson's five-yard TD run with 10:07 remaining. The extra point failed.

The Falcons got back the ball at the Missouri 35 on Patton's interception with 5:20 to play. They needed seven plays to take a 20-13 lead on Alls' two-yard TD run with 3:40 remaining.

Patton sealed the victory with his second interception at the Missouri 48 with 1:37 to go.

Alls rushed for 107 yards on 17 carries for the Falcons, while Andy Sahm completed 11-of-18 for 109 yards with an interception.

Darius Outlaw completed 18-of-39 for 158 yards and a touchdown for Missouri, which was held to 76 yards on the ground.

Bowling Green grabbed a 7-3 halftime lead on Sahm's five-yard TD pass to David Bautista with 4:28 remaining in the first quarter.

After a scoreless second period, the Tigers closed to 7-6 on Brad Hammerich's 51-yard field goal with 7:17 left in the third quarter and took a 13-7 lead on Outlaw's two-yard TD strike to Joe Chirumbolo with 12:49 remaining.
