BOULDER, Colorado (Ticker) -- Colorado rode another big rushing game from the tandem of Chris Brown and Bobby Purify to a 51-15 win over San Jose State. Brown rushed for 70 yards and three touchdowns and Purify netted 92 yards and a score for the Buffaloes (2-1), who won their second straight game after a season-opening loss to Fresno State. Brown and Purify combined for 312 yards rushing in last week's 41-14 win over Colorado State and the pair helped Colorado jump out to an early 21-0 lead against San Jose State. Brown scored on runs of 12 and five yards and Purify raced in from 30 yards for a three-touchdown lead after three quarters. Donald Strickland returned an interception three yards for a score, his second return for a TD in as many weeks, to make it 28-3. Craig Ochs completed 14-of-22 passes for 208 yards, including a 33-yard TD pass to Derek McCoy in the second quarter that made it 35-3. Brown added a one-yard TD run in the third quarter and Matt Brunson caught a 62-yard TD pass from backup Bobby Pesavento in the fourth period. It was the first career TD for Brunson, a 27-year-old senior who played four seasons of minor league baseball. Deonce Whitaker of San Jose State (0-2) was held to 66 yards on 18 carries. Marcus Arroyo completed 14-of-28 passes for 115 yards with one score.
