LAWRENCE, Kansas (Ticker) -- DeShaun Foster rushed for 179 yards and a touchdown as 14th-ranked UCLA concluded a season-opening two-game road trip with a 41-17 rout of Kansas.

It was the second straight 100-yard game for Foster, who ran for 110 yards on 24 attempts in last week's 20-17 win at Alabama.

Foster, who carried 28 times, recorded his ninth career 100-yard game, including six in the last 13 contests. He moved into ninth place on UCLA's all-time rushing list with 2,374 yards.

"The line did everything," Foster said. "All I was doing today was running through holes."

The Bruins posted just their third road victory since 1998 and opened with a pair of road contests for the first time since 1986.

"We are glad to go home 2-0 after two long away games," Foster said. "We basically travelled across the country twice in two weeks."

Cory Paus completed 10-of-16 for 160 yards and a touchdown for UCLA, which built a 27-3 lead late in the first half.

Ryan Nece's 22-yard interception return for a score gave the Bruins a 20-3 lead before Paus and Tab Perry connected for a 49-yard TD strike with 3:20 left in the half.

"This has been a tough week," UCLA coach Bob Toledo said. "We were tired and exhausted but the kids did a great job of regrouping. This is one of the most difficult weeks I've had as a football coach."

Mario Kinsey completed just 6-of-17 for 93 yards and rushed for 50 yards and touchdowns on 14 carries for the Jayhawks (1-1).

Sophomore Zach Dyer completed 6-of-16 for 63 yards. Dyer made his first career start last week in last week's 24-10 victory over Division I-AA Southwest Missouri State.

"It was a huge disappointment today," Kansas coach Terry Allen said. "I feel so bad for the people who came out because we worked so hard to get that atmosphere. It is hard now because we didn't do enough. It was a missed opportunity."

The Jayhawks opened the scoring on Johnny Beck's 52-yard field goal with 10:18 remaining in the first quarter, but Paus put the Bruins ahead for good with a one-yard TD run 2:35 before the end of the first period.

UCLA outgained Kansas, 468-245, including a 285-89 edge on the ground.

"We are not where we need to be yet, but we won and that is the best part," Paus said. "We are still having a rough time in the red zone."

UCLA, making its first visit to Kansas since 1978, increased its lead in the all-time series to 5-2.

"We were so inept offensively and we put all the pressure on our defense," Allen said. "We've got to get better in the offense. We can't have turnovers and we have to rush the football to get first downs."
