COLLEGE PARK, Maryland (Ticker) -- The only thing more impressive than Maryland's most decisive win in five years was its best defensive effort in 21.

Bruce Perry rushed for a career-high 133 yards and three scores and Shaun Hill passed for one touchdown and threw for another as Maryland embarrassed Eastern Michigan, 50-3.

The Terrapins (2-0) had not posted a 47-point margin since a 52-0 home victory over Wake Forest in 1996.

On the way to the rout over Eastern Michigan, Maryland yielded only 124 yards of total offense -- its stingiest effort since Virginia managed just 80 yards in a 1980 meeting.

Perry, a sophomore, scored the first three TDs of his career, becoming the 13th player in school history to have a trio in the same game.

A redshirt last season, Perry opened the scoring 4:53 into the game with an eight-yard run and later added jaunts of 24 and 31 yards.

The Terrapins scored the game's first 44 points. Hill threw a 19 yard scoring strike to Guilian Gary in the first quarter and scored on a four-yard keeper in the third.

Marc Riley and Jason Crawford added scoring runs for Maryland, which amassed 476 yards of total offense.
