LAS CRUCES, New Mexico (Ticker) -- Ken Simonton rebounded from a poor season opener, rushing for 167 yards and two touchdowns to lead No. 12 Oregon State to a 27-22 victory over New Mexico State. Simonton was held to 42 yards as the Beavers suffered a crushing 44-24 defeat to Fresno State last Sunday. But the Heisman Trophy hopeful bounced back with a strong effort on Saturday, posting one-yard touchdowns in the first and fourth quarters. His second touchdown gave Oregon State (1-1) a 24-9 lead two minutes into the fourth quarter, but the Aggies rallied and closed within 27-22 when K.C. Enzminger connected on a 31-yard touchdown pass to Maunel Talbert with 1:33 remaining. New Mexico State (0-3) missed the two-point conversion and the Beavers recovered the onside kick with 1:26 remaining. Patrick McCall added 62 yards on eight carries and has a 22-yard touchdown run in the first quarter for the Beavers. Jonathan Smith completed 16-of-27 passes for 207 yards and Tim Euhus caught had six catches for 97 yards.
