STILLWATER, Oklahoma (Ticker) -- Safety Robbie Gillem recovered a fumble in the end zone with six minutes remaining as Oklahoma State gave new coach Les Miles his first win, 30-23 over Louisiana Tech. Gillem fell on the ball after Louisiana Tech punter Dustin Upton fumbled the snap and tried to run. Miles, the defensive coordinator on the 1997 Oklahoma State team that played in the 1997 Alamo Bowl, lost to Southern Mississippi in his debut last week, 17-9. The Cowboys (1-1) appeared in control early, grabbing a 17-3 lead on Luke Phillips' 38-yard field goal with 11:09 left in the first half. But the Bulldogs (1-1) began a comeback just over two minutes later on linebacker Carlin Thomas' 32-yard fumble return. Louisiana Tech tied it at 20-20 on Luke McCown's 22-yard touchdown pass to John Simon with 6:08 to go in the third quarter. Phillips booted a 27-yard field goal before the period ended to put Oklahoma State back in front, but the Bulldogs pulled even again on Josh Scobee's 20-yard field goal with 10:15 remaining. Tatum Bell rushed for 109 yards on 26 carries for Oklahoma State while Aso Pogi completed 11-of-22 passes for 137 yards with an interception. McCown was 29-of-54 for 286 yards for the Bulldogs, who were held to only 29 rushing yards.
