NEW ORLEANS (Ticker) -- Leonard Henry rushed for 218 yards on 19 carries, including a school-record 98-yard touchdown midway through the fourth quarter, as East Carolina coasted to a 51-24 Conference USA victory over Tulane. Henry, who was held to 44 yards in last week's 21-19 upset loss to Wake Forest, also scored on a one-yard TD run in the second quarter that staked the Pirates (1-1, 1-0 C-USA) to a 17-0 lead. His 98-yard burst broke the previous school mark of 95 yards set by Eddie Hicks on November 12, 1977 against William & Mary. Henry's total marked only the ninth time an East Carolina running back gained more than 200 yards in a game. Tulane (0-3, 0-1) closed to 23-17 on Patrick Ramsey's six-yard TD toss to Roydell Williams with 5:29 remaining in the third quarter, but East Carolina answered on Richard Alston's 54-yard TD strike to Tyrell Powell with 1:24 left in the period. Henry's electrifying run came with 8:43 left in the game and started a blitz of three straight touchdowns for East Carolina. Art Brown scored on a 15-yard run and Marvin Townes added a two-yard TD to give the Pirates a 51-10 cushion. David Garrard completed 10-of-21 for 166 yards for East Carolina, which rushed for 319 yards. Ramsey completed 26-of-49 for 211 yards and two touchdowns for the Green Wave, who opened the season with road losses at Brigham Young and Louisiana State. East Carolina increased its lead in the all-time series to 4-1.
