TUCSON, Arizona (Ticker) -- Jason Johnson passed for 247 yards and three touchdowns, leading unbeaten Arizona to a 38-21 victory over winless Nevada-Las Vegas.

Johnson completed 18-of-30 passes to nine different receivers as Arizona improved to 3-0. Tremaine Cox rushed for 111 yards on only eight carries for Arizona, racing 80 yards for a score.

The Wildcats went 61 yards on their opening drive, with Johnson finding Bobby Wade in the right corner of the end zone from 14 yards out for a 7-0 lead.

UNLV (0-3) tied it with just over eight minutes left in the first quarter as defensive end Ahmad Briggs rumbled 30 yards untouched with a fumble return.

Both teams missed field-goal attempts late in the first quarter. Arizona's Sean Keel had a 30-yarder blocked and Dillon Pieffer was wide from 41 yards for the Rebels.

The Wildcats regained the lead in the final seconds of the quarter on Johnson's 12-yard toss to tight end James Hugo. Arizona had 13 first downs in the period while holding UNLV to one.

Keel kicked a 20-yard field goal to extend the lead to 17-7 and Cox burst 80 yards off right tackle as the Wildcats took a 17-point cushion into the locker room.

Arizona blew it open in the final minute of the third quarter on another TD pass from Johnson to Wade.

The Rebels scored their first touchdown on a seven-yard run by Joe Haro, but cornerback Michael Jolivette returned a botched lateral 40 yards to make it 38-14 early in the final period.
