MANHATTAN, Kansas (Ticker) -- The 400th victory in Kansas State history was no contest. Josh Scobey ran for 112 yards and four touchdowns in the first half as the 10th-ranked Wildcats coasted to a 64-0 rout of New Mexico State. Ell Roberson threw for one score and passed for another and Aaron Lockett had two TDs in a 34-second span for the Wildcats, who are 400-553-41 in 106 football seasons. Kansas State (2-0) normally plays a less-than-challenging non-conference schedule, but it broke tradition with a win at Southern California two weeks ago. The Wildcats returned to playing an overmatched opponent Saturday, taking a 22-0 lead after one quarter and a 50-0 cushion at halftime. "I thought we played well in the first half," Kansas State coach Bill Snyder said. "I was a little bit more concerned abour our second-string offense and how they handled themselves." New Mexico State (0-4) lost its third straight game to a ranked team. It was routed by Texas before losing to Oregon State by five points two weeks ago. "There is no question about it. You have to be real careful sometimes when you play the Kansas States of the world," New Mexico State coach Tony Samuel said. "I think subconsciously there was a little bit of a 'we can't win it, let's relax.'" The Wildcats collected 528 total yards compared to 115 for the Aggies. K.C. Enzminger of New Mexico State completed just 4-of-15 passes for 41 yards. Kyle Altvater booted a 23-yard field goal and Scobey scored on runs of three and six yards sandwiched around Roberson's one-yard TD run. Roberson completed 7-of-10 passes for 181 yards. Scobey, who carried 16 times, opened the second quarter with a one-yard TD run and Roberson's two-point conversion run made it 30-0. After a 14-yard TD run by Scobey, Roberson threw a 72-yard TD pass to Derrick Evans. With 33 seconds left in the second quarter, backup Marc Dunn threw a 13-yard TD pass to Lockett that made it 50-0. Snyder allowed his reserves to play the second half. "There is a certain point of the game where you have to share the opportunities," Snyder said. "There are a lot of players you want to give a chance to carry the ball." Ten Kansas State players had at least one rush. After halftime, Lockett scored on a 97-yard kickoff return. Darren Sproles capped the scoring with a one-yard run in the fourth quarter.
