DALLAS (Ticker) -- Ray Robinson continued his climb up North Carolina State's rushing charts, scoring a pair of touchdowns en route to a 26-17 victory over Southern Methodist. Robinson scored on runs of two and one yards, giving him 23 rushing TDS. He is tied for third place with Tremayne Stephens (1994-97) and Gary Downs (1990-93) on the school's all-time list. A senior from Hilton Head, South Carolina, Robinson carried 18 times for 45 yards. He jumped two places to fifth in school history in rushes (496) and moved within 27 yards of Billy Ray Vickers (2,189) for seventh. Robinson gave North Carolina State (2-0) a 13-10 lead with a one-yard plunge 1:47 into the second quarter. His first TD made it 7-3 with 5:22 left in the first half. Kelan Luker rallied Southern Methodist (0-3), throwing a 32-yard scoring pass to Chris Cunningham for a 17-16 lead 50 seconds into the fourth quarter. But Austin Herbert kicked a 24-yard field goal midway through the period to give the Wolfpack the lead for good and defensive end George Anderson fell on a fumble in the end zone with 3:32 left to cap the scoring. The Mustangs held a 316-288 advantage in total yards but had three of the game's four turnovers. Luker completed 13-of-23 passes for 151 yards with a pair of TDs and an interception, and Keylon Kincade and Kris Briggs combined for 173 yards rushing for SMU. Philip Rivers was 21-of-31 for 215 yards with an interception for N.C. State.
