PALO ALTO, California (Ticker) -- Randy Fasani threw for 295 yards and four touchdowns as Stanford crushed Arizona State, 51-28, in the Pac-10 Conference opener for both teams.

Seven different Stanford players scored touchdowns and the Cardinal offense recorded 548 yards en route to their first 2-0 start since 1995.

Fasani threw TD passes to Ryan Wells, Nick Sebes, Brett Pierce and Teyo Johnson, while Kerry Carter, Jared Newberry and Brian Allen rushed for scores as Stanford won its conference opener for the third straight year.

Allen rushed for 134 yards and Luke Powell caught six passes for 134 yards for the Cardinal, who won their third straight meeting with Arizona State. They scored all their points in the first three quarters.

Jeff Krohn threw for 366 yards and three TDs and Donnie O'Neal caught six passes for a career-high 142 yards for Arizona State (1-1), which amassed 504 total yards.

Stanford junior Jared Newberry's 19-yard TD run at 12:59 of the first was his first career score and snapped a 7-7 tie.

Carter made a three-yard jaunt into the end zone at the end of the quarter, giving the Cardinal a 20-7 advantage. It was his 14th career rushing touchdown, placing him seventh on Stanford's all-time list.

Mike Barth's 46-yard field goal at 12:08 of the second quarter brought Arizona State within 23-13. Barth has made seven consecutive field goals and 29 straight PATs.

But Sebes, a freshman, caught a 32-yard TD pass from Fasani to push Stanford's advantage to 30-13 with 28 seconds left in the second. Sebes' first two catches of his career have been for touchdowns.

O'Neal caught a 58-yard TD 2:29 into the third to cut the Stanford's lead to 30-20. However, Fasani connected with Pierce and Johnson for consecutive scoring strikes for a 24-point advantage.

After Shaun McDonald caught Krohn's 68-yard TD pass at 12:03 of the third, Allen closed the scoring with a 47-yard run with 50 seconds left in the quarter.
