TULSA, Oklahoma (Ticker) -- David Carr picked up where he left off. So did the rest of his Fresno State teammates.

Carr threw three touchdown passes as 15th-ranked Fresno State remained unbeaten with a 37-18 rout of Tulsa in the Western Athletic Conference opener for both schools.

An emerging Heisman Trophy candidate, Carr did not do anything to hurt his cause Saturday as he repeatedly torced the Golden Hurricane secondary.

Carr fired touchdown passes of 27 and 30 yards in the first half, helping Fresno State (4-0, 1-0 WAC) open a 17-3 lead. He completed his big day with a 42-yard TD pass in the third quarter.

Carr went 22-of-29 for 314 yards and one interception. In four games this season, the senior has thrown for 1,092 yards with 10 touchdowns and two interceptions.

Berrian was on the receiving end of two of those scores and finished with nine catches for 169 yards.

Fresno State, the most surprising story in college football over the first month, is 4-0 to start a season for the first time since 1991.

Eric Richardson and Tyler Gooch scored on touchdown runs for Tulsa (1-1, 0-1 WAC), which was playing for the first time since a 51-0 rout of Indiana State on August 30.

The Golden Hurricane got off to a good start, taking its first possession of the game, moving 44 yards in 11 plays. Chris Earnest capped the march with a 47-yard field goal.

But it was all downhill from there as the Bulldogs dominated the rest of the way.

Following the field goal, the Bulldogs answered by going 80 yards in nine plays. Carr, who completed 5-of-6 passes on the drive, found Marque Davis with a 27-yard touchdown pass with 5:32 left in the first quarter.

Carr hooked up with his favorite target -- Berrian -- on a 30-yard scoring strike early in the second quarter, extending the Bulldogs' lead to 14-3.

Asen Asparuhov booted a 22-yard field goal as time expired in the first half, giving the Bulldogs a two-touchdown advantage.

The Bulldogs continued to pour it on in the third quarter as Rodney Wright ran five yards for a score and Carr found Berrian with a 42-yard TD pass, giving Fresno State a 31-3 bulge.

Tulsa finally reached the end zone on Richardson's five-yard run just over a minute into the fourth quarter. Richardson carried 22 times for 119 yards.

Asen Asparuhov and Brandon Esparza booted field goals just over five minutes apart for Fresno State later in the period before Gooch capped the scoring for the Golden Hurricane wth a one-yard run with 3:37 left.

Tulsa quarterbacl Josh Blankenship went 20-of-37 for 187 yards and two interceptions.
