HONOLULU (Ticker) -- Brandon Skeen's 26-yard field goal with 2:26 remaining gave Rice a 27-24 Western Athletic Conference victory over Hawaii.

Skeen's second field goal of the game capped an 11-play, 61-yard drive engineered by freshman quarterback Greg Henderson as Rice (3-1, 1-0 WAC) rallied from a 14-point halftime deficit.

Hawaii (1-2, 0-2) had one last possession, but Timmy Chang was intercepted by defensive back Patrick Dendy and the Owls ran out the clock to improve to 3-0 all-time against the Warriors.

The game turned when bandit Dan Dawson intercepted Chang and returned it 74 yards for a touchdown to pull Rice within 24-21 with just over seven minutes left in the third quarter. Skeen's 31-yard field goal tied it game with just over 13 minutes remaining.

The Warriors received a pair of short touchdowns passes from Chang to Ashley Lelie as they took a 21-7 lead into the locker room. Mike Bass ran three yards for Hawaii's other score.

Henderson completed just 6-of-14 passes for 135 yards but threw a 39-yard TD strike to halfback Derek Gary to slice the Owls' deficit to 21-14 just over two minutes into the second half.

Sean White led Rice's four-back attack with 77 yards on 10 carries.

Chang completed 27-of-49 passes for 362 yards but was intercepted three times, pushing his season total to seven. He topped the 300-yard mark for the third straight game.
