MADISON, Wisconsin (Ticker) -- Freshman Anthony Davis rushed for 89 yards and two touchdowns as Wisconsin used stingy defense to post a 24-6 victory over Division I-AA Western Kentucky.

Davis' 18-yard touchdown run capped a nine-play, 70-yard drive and gave Wisconsin a 10-3 lead with 12:21 left in the first half.

Davis also put the finishing touches on a 11-play, 86-yard march with a 1-yard TD plunge that made it 17-3.

Wisconsin (3-2) held the Hilltoppers to 143 yards, including just 28 passing. The Badgers also sacked Jason Johnson twice and had seven other tackles for losses.

Wisconsin scored its final touchdown in the third quarter on Brooks Bollinger's 32-yard pass to Nick Davis with 1:42 left.

Western Kentucky (2-2), ranked seventh in Division I-AA, received a pair of 29-yard field goals from Peter Martinez, the second coming on the final play of the first half.

Jim Sorgi completed 7-of-12 passes for 91 yards but was intercepted twice for the Badgers. Bollinger was just 3-of-10 for 50 yards.

Bollinger also rushed for 44 yards on seven carries and is two yards shy of becoming Wisconsin's all-time leading rusher among quarterbacks.

The teams were originally scheduled to meet on September 15 but the game was postponed due to the terrorist attacks four days earlier. It was the first meeting between the schools.
