LOUISVILLE, Kentucky (Ticker) -- Dave Ragone threw for 213 yards and the game's lone touchdown as Louisville avenged a bowl game loss with a 7-2 victory over Colorado State. The Cardinals (5-1), who fell to Colorado State 22-17 in the 2000 Liberty Bowl, took the lead with nine minutes to play in the first half. Ragone completed 20-of-28 passes and was intercepted twice. He capped a 46-yard drive by connecting with Zek Parker on a seven-yard touchdown pass. The Rams (2-3) finally got on the board with 5:50 remaining when defensive lineman Andre Sommersell blocked a punt through the Louisville end zone for a safety. Colorado State attempted to put together a late comeback after Ragone threw his second interception. But the Rams lost 15 yards before Cardinals defensive back Laroni Gallishaw picked off a "Hail Mary" pass in the end zone. Colorado State's Bradlee Van Pelt struggled to get the offense going, completing 10-of-23 passes for just 87 yards. He was sacked five times.
