JONESBORO, Arkansas (Ticker) -- Mississippi made it first trip to Jonesboro as success as Eli Manning passed for 269 yards and two touchdowns in a 35-17 victory over Arkansas State. The Rebels (3-1) completed a three-game road trip improved to 17-1-1 all-time against the Indians. Manning was on target throughout, completing 20-of-29 passes. He tossed a two-yard TD pass to Toward Sanford in the second quarter and a 51-yard TD strike to Chris Collins in the fourth quarter. Sanford rushed for only 37 yards but scored on a pair of short TD runs. The winless Indians (0-4) stayed close early, trailing 7-0 at the end of the first quarter. But Mississippi began to pull away in the second period. Sanford scored on a one-yard run before his TD reception gave the Rebels a 21-0 cushion with 5:01 remaining in the half. Arkansas State got on the board on Josh Driscoll's 23-yard TD pass to Alvin Powell with 1:53 left in the second and closed to 21-10 on Andy McPherson's 19-yard field goal 5:10 into the third quarter. But Sanford's one-yard plunge made it 28-10 2:45 into the final period. Jonathan Adams rushed for 173 yards on 30 carries, including a one-yard TD run that pulled Arkansas State within 28-17 with 7:55 to play. But Manning and Collins hooked up less than two minutes later to put the contest out of reach. Driscoll completed 8-of-13 for 133 yards for the Indians 14 of their last 15 games over the last two seasons.
