CHAMPAIGN, Illinois (Ticker) -- Kurt Kittner passed for 239 yards and threw two touchdowns to Brandon Lloyd as Illinois rebounded from its first loss to record a 25-14 Big Ten Conference victory over Minnesota. Kittner, who completed 16-of-28, tossed a 28-yard TD pass to Lloyd with 2:27 remaining in the first period. Peter Christofilakos kicked field goals of 20, 22 and 20 yards to give the Fighting Illini (4-1, 1-1 Big 10) a 16-0 lead early in the third quarter. Illinois suffered a 45-20 loss to Michigan last week, denying the Illini their first 4-0 start in 50 years. Minnesota (1-3, 0-2) tried to rally in the second half, closing to 19-14 on Marrion Barber's seven-yard TD run and Travis Cole's 16-yard TD pass to Antoine Burns with 2:16 left in the third period. But Illinois marched 72 yards in just 39 seconds, taking a 25-14 lead on Kittner's 59-yard TD to Lloyd. Antoineo Harris and Rocky Harvey each rushed for 65 yards for the Illini. Travis Cole completed 16-of-28 for 189 yards and an interception for the Golden Gophers. Tellis Redmon paced Minnesota on the ground with 96 yards on 23 attempts.
