DALLAS (Ticker) -- Maybe Hawaii should play more games at 7:00 a.m. local time. Nick Rolovich tossed a six-yard touchdown pass to Tafiti Uso in overtime as Hawaii rallied for a 38-31 Western Athletic Conference victory over winless Southern Methodist. Hawaii (2-2, 1-2 WAC) grabbed a 31-24 lead on Thero Mitchell's eight-yard TD run with 3:08 remaining in the fourth quarter, but Jonas Rutledge returned the ensuing kickoff 92 yards for a touchdown to force overtime. The early kickoff -- 11:00 a.m. in Dallas -- may have contributed to Hawaii's slow start as SMU jumped to a 10-0 lead in the first quarter. But the Warriors scored three touchdowns in the third quarter to erase a 24-10 deficit, tying the contest, 24-24, when Keith Bhonapha returned a blocked punt 38 yards with 11 seconds left in the quarter. Rolovich completed 31-of-51 for 325 yards with two touchdowns and two interceptions. Mitchell accounted for all but 32 yards of Hawaii's rushing offense, gaining 116 yards on 21 carries. David Page threw for 256 yards for the Mustangs (0-3, 0-4), but completed 11-of-25. Keylon Kincade paced SMU on the ground with just 34 yards on 11 carries. Page tossed a 33-yard TD pass to Chris Cunningham with 28 seconds remaining in the first half to make it 17-3 at halftime. His 90-yard strike to Johnnie Freeman gave SMU a 24-10 advantage with 8:25 remaining in the third period.
