WINSTON-SALEM, North Carolina (Ticker) -- Philip Rivers accounted for two touchdowns as North Carolina State rallied for a 17-14 Atlantic Coast Conference victory over Wake Forest. Rivers, who completed 20-of-32 for 180 yards, rallied the Wolfpack (3-1, 1-1 ACC) from a 14-3 deficit late in the first half. He tossed a one-yard touchdown pass to Joseph Gray with 24 seconds left in the half, then scored on a one-yard run with 6:02 left in the third quarter to give North Carolina State its first lead. A sophomore, Rivers passed for a career-low in last season's 32-14 loss to Wake Forest. The Wolfpack became the first road team to win in the series since 1996 and has won 12 of the last 14 meetings. North Carolina State leads the all-time series, 58-31-6. Anthony Young completed just 4-of-12 for 45 yards for Wake Forest (2-3, 0-3), which suffered its third straight loss. The Demon Deacons opened a 14-3 lead on two-yard touchdown runs by Tarence Williams and Fred Staton. Ray Robinson paced Wake Forest on the ground with 90 yards on 31 carries.
