WEST POINT, New York (Ticker) -- Leonard Henry rushed for 156 yards and three touchdowns on 13 carries to lead East Carolina to a 49-26 victory over Conference USA rival Army. Henry's first touchdown run of 51 yards gave the Pirates a 28-10 lead with just over four minutes to play in the first half. He scored twice in the fourth quarter on runs of nine and 28 yards to put East Carolina (3-3, 2-0 C-USA) up, 42-26. David Garrard completed 12-for-19 for 173 yards and a touchdown for the Pirates. Garrard gave East Carolina its first lead of the game six seconds into the second quarter on a 37-yard touchdown pass to flanker Arnike Powell, the first of three touchdowns in the period for the Pirates. Five minutes later, Marvin Townes gave East Carolina a 21-10 lead by returning a kickoff 93 yards for a touchdown. Army (1-4, 1-3) capped the first half with field goals of 30 and 31 yard field goal by Derek Jacobs, then closed within eight points on C.J. Young's one-yard touchdown in the third quarter. Both teams recorded more than 400 yards of total offense, but East Carolina converted two Army turnovers into 14 points. After Henry's second touchdown, the Cadets answered on Chad Jenkins' 12-yard pass to Aris Comeaux. But East Carolina pulled away on Henry's third touchdown and John Williamson's 29-yard interception return that put the Pirates up 49-26 with 6 1/2 minutes to play. The teams traded touchdowns in the first quarter. Army got on the board 4:30 into the game on Jenkins' nine-yard run, but East Carolina tied it on safety Travis Heath's 81-yard fumble return. The Cadets have not beaten the Pirates in four meetings since joining Conference USA.
