HONOLULU (Ticker) -- Nick Rolovich threw for 252 yards and three touchdowns and Hawaii recorded its highest point total in 75 years with a 66-7 romp over Texas El Paso in a Western Athletic Conference contest.

The Rainbows (3-2, 2-2 WAC), who had a total 490 yards, posted their largest victory since a 101-0 rout of Healani on October 16, 1926. But high-scoring affairs are nothing new to this rivalry, with the winning team totaling at least 30 points in each of the last nine seasons, including UTEP's 39-7 triumph at the Sun Bowl last year.

Hawaii scored 5:50 into the game on a one-yard run by Thero Mitchell and Matt Wright had a 90-yard interception return for a 14-0 advantage with 1:24 remaining in the first quarter. It was the Rainbows' first touchdown off an interception since November 6, 1999. But it was not their last of the evening.

After Justin Ayat's 50-yard field goal, Kevin Millhouse intercepted another pass and ran 39 yards into the end zone for a 24-point advantage.

Hawaii went ahead 38-0 in the second quarter as Rolovich threw a 12-yard TD pass to Mike Bass and an 18-yard scoring strike to Ashley Lelie.

The Miners (2-4, 1-2) finally got on the scoreboard 3:35 into the third quarter on an eight-yard TD run by Dario Davis.

But Rolovich connected with Lelie for a 38-yard scoring pass and Robert Grant had a 26-yard interception return at the end of the quarter.

Chad Owens had a 33-yard TD run and Bass added a three-yard jaunt to finish the scoring.

The Rainbows avoided a three-game losing streak and kept their chances for a WAC title alive. They improved to 16-12 all-time against the Miners, winning their last four in Honolulu.

Rolovich completed 17-of-35 passes and Bass rushed 18 times for 146 yards.

UTEP quarterback Wesley Phillips was just 2-of-11 for 19 yards and was intercepted twice. Backup Jon Schaper was 8-for-20 with one interception and 67 yards.
