PITTSBURGH (Ticker) -- James Mungro started a second-half blitz with a 56-yard touchdown run as Syracuse stretched its winning streak to five games with a 42-10 Big East conference victory over Pittsburgh.

Mungro's touchdown 2:47 into the third quarter gave the Orangemen (5-2, 2-0 Big East) a 14-10 lead and started a string of 35 unanswered points. He rushed for 113 yards on 15 carries.

Pittsburgh (1-4, 0-2), coming off a 24-7 loss at Notre Dame, grabbed a 10-7 halftime lead on Nick Lotz's 23-yard field goal with 1:52 remaining in the second quarter.

But Syracuse quickly pulled away in the third period, taking a 21-10 lead on Will Hunter's 35-yard interception return for a score with 10:44 left in the quarter.

The Orangemen made it 28-10 on R.J. Anderson's one-yard TD run with 5:59 left in the third before Kyle Johnson and Walter Reyes added short scoring runs in the fourth.

Troy Nunes completed 8-of-12 for just 77 yards and an interception for Syracuse, which was held to 311 total yards.

But Syracuse dominated on defense, recording three interceptions and six sacks.

David Priestley completed just 8-of-20 passes for 136 yards and two interceptions before giving way to Rod Rutherford, who was only 2-of-9 for 33 yards and an interception.

Pittsburgh took a 7-0 lead on Rutherford's one-yard TD run with 3:39 left in the first period, but the Orangemen tied it on Nunes' 27-yard TD pass to Maurice Jackson with 12:57 left in the second quarter.
