NASHVILLE, Tennessee (Ticker) -- David Greene threw for 305 yards and two touchdowns and Musa Smith ran for 79 yards and a pair of scores as Georgia rolled to a 30-14 Southeastern Conference victory over Vanderbilt. The Bulldogs (4-1, 3-1 SEC East), who upset Tennessee last week, notched their seventh straight win over the Commodores (1-4, 0-3) and third in a row overall. They should climb back into the coaches' poll and already are ranked in the media poll. Smith, a sophomore, carried just nine times, including touchdown runs of three and 40 yards in the first period that gave Georgia a 14-0 lead. Greene, a redshit freshman, completed 19-of-26 passes, including a 58-yarder to Fred Gibson that made it 21-0 with 6:53 left in the second quarter. Gibson caught six passes for 106 yards. Vanderbilt got on the scoreboard with 30 seconds to play in the first half as Greg Zolman capped a 73-yard march by hitting M.J. Garrett with an eight-yard TD pass. But Greene directed a 54-yard drive and Billy Bennett kicked a 27-yard field goal as time expired, giving the Bulldogs a 24-7 lead. Zolman, who was 24-of-50 for 316 yards, ran one yard for a score with 3:23 left in the third quarter. Greene answered just over three minutes later with a 17-yard TD pass to Terrence Edwards, who had three catches for 35 yards. Verron Haynes had three catches for 88 yards and seven carries for 26 yards for Georgia, which overcame three fumbles and 12 penalties. Dan Stricker had eight catches for 137 yards and Lew Thomas ran 23 times for 75 yards for the Commodores, who are 4-36-1 vs. the Bulldogs since 1958.
