MIAMI (Ticker) -- And he's only a junior. Ken Dorsey threw his 49th and 50th career touchdown passes to establish a school record as top-ranked Miami coasted to a 38-0 Big East Conference victory over Temple. Dorsey moved past Vinny Testaverde and Steve Walsh in the school's record book with a 15-yard touchdown pass to Kevin Beard 6:33 into the contest. "It was amazing how easy the game was after (breaking the record) that," Dorsey said. "It's an honor to be in the record books with some great players who are also friends of mine. I wanted the record more to just give them a hard time." Miami has won 17 straight games, the longest current streak in the nation. Four minutes into the second half, Dorsey built on the record by finding Andre Johnson with an 11-yard TD pass, giving the Hurricanes a 21-0 advantage. In three quarters, Dorsey finished 16-of-24 for 175 yards without an interception. Unlike Testaverde and Walsh, Dorsey has yet to win a national championship at Miami. But Dorsey, who is 21-1 as a starter, could be on his way to joining that duo as the Hurricanes (7-0, 4-0 Big East) remained one of three unbeaten teams in Division I-A. Phillip Buchanon returned a punt 52 yards for a touchdown in the third quarter for Miami, which is ranked first overall in the USA/Today ESPN coaches poll, but just third in the BCS standings. Safety Edward Reed also moved in the Miami record book with his 19th career interception, tying Bennie Blades' school record. Clinton Portis and Frank Gore added touchdown runs for the Hurricanes, who have won the last 10 meetings from Temple by a combined score of 448-98. Temple (2-6, 1-4) has lost its last three games overall by a lopsided 116-10 margin. The Hurricanes came out lethargic and did not score on their opening possession, but after holding Temple three-and-out, Dorsey capped a two-play, 42-yard drive with his touchdown pass to Beard. Portis, running behind one of the nation's best offensive lines, made it 14-0 with 3:51 left before halftime by scoring on a seven-yard run. It was a big afternoon for Portis, a junior who carried 20 times for 117 yards and became the fifth back in school history to rush for 2,000 yards in his career. After outgaining the Owls just 161-108 in the first two quarters, Miami took over after halftime. Dorsey culminated an eight-play, 64-yard drive with his 11-yard TD pass to Johnson. Gore scored on a 13-yard run just over four minutes later, making it 28-0. The defense got into the act in the waning seconds of the third quarter when Buchanon stepped in front of a pass by Mike McGann and returned it 52 yards for a touchdown. Miami recorded its second shutout of the season after blanking Rutgers, 61-0, in September. The Hurricanes held Temple to 202 total yards. "We played well in the third quarter and in the second half," Miami coach Larry Coker said. "I'd be more concerned of we had gotten off to a good start with big leads and couldn't finish." McGann struggled throughout, going just 6-of-14 for 34 yards with an interception while also losing a fumble. Todd Sievers capped the scoring with a 37-yard field goal with 6:05 remaining.
